Shutdown Day

shutdownday.com is a website devoted to helping you answer one question, Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?

“It is obvious that people would find life extremely difficult without computers, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope?

Be a part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate!”

The website sets the date for March 24th. I encourage everyone to try it out because it is true, especially for all of us Geeks. We seem to live next to the comptuer, I know I do at least, we do spend a lot of time at the computer. Some of us are at the computer for work purposes and others because that is what they do for fun. Many teenagers now don’t watch as much TV as the last generation because they spend their time watching clips on YouTube and browsing MySpace or Facebook.

Let’s all try it out and we can find out how the day goes afterwards. But, for now head on over to shutdownday.com and leave a comment.

Or check out a video for alternative uses for a laptop:

Chris Pirillo Wants Call For Help on YouTube

Well all of you TechTV lovers know that Chris Pirillo was once the host of the show Call For Help when it was here in the states, well now he wants you to call for help on YouTube. He has a video up of him asking all of you out there that need help to respond to his video with your very own calls for help, then he will in turn respond to yours with an answer. This is a pretty interesting idea and think it would be kinda cool. We need more people out there helping others out.

As of right now there are only 8 responses to his video but seeing as how it is one of the top stories of the day on digg, I’m sure he’ll get a few more responses.
