Apple said on Monday that they have sold their 1 millionth iPhone, this is just a short 74 days after the first iPhone was sold on June 29th.
“One million iPhones in 74 days — it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod,” said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs. “We can’t wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season.”
I don’t know why they make this comparison, the iPod was a very different product and in a very different market, very few people were using MP3 players then, but now millions of people use a cell phone everyday.
Apple is planning to sell 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008, I’m not sure if they will make the goal, no one will really be able to tell until after this Christmas season but the recent price drop certainly will help.
