The Aspire One has a 8.9″ 1024×600 display, 802.11b/g, 3 USB ports, and an Intel Atom processor. With this price drop I think netbooks are actually hitting a price point that people will actually be willing to pay for these mini notebooks.

I personally believe that the magic price point for these netbooks will be around $300, at that price it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for them to be purchased for children. But, I guess these companies either can’t get the manufacturing costs down low enough or want to make a little bit more profit, either way they will learn eventually.

The PC should be shipping in September alongside Asus’s 42″ Eee TV.

I think that Asus may be going a little too far with that Eee TV, but I do think the Eee Monitor is a great idea. At $500 who wouldn’t get this all-in-one, the only problem I think the majority of the market would be frustrated by is the fact that it runs Linux (the vast majority of the public just isn’t ready for it yet), but of course, this is just me assuming that it won’t run Windows as well.

The Asus Desktop Eee PC has been a long time coming (a few months at least!) and Asus has finally given some actual info on the computer.

The name of it is now the Asus Eee Box, the computer will be available worldwide in July with both Linux and Windows XP versions. The cheapest model will be priced at $330 and have a 80GB hard drive (250GB max) 802.11n Wifi, 4 USB ports, and a card reader.

There is no word yet on what processor the Eee Box will have but one would assume it will be packing an Atom CPU just like it’s notebook brother.

According to DigiTimes Asus is pushing their upcoming Eee PC from June to May to help fight off some of the competition coming from the likes of Acer, HP and everyone else.

Remember that this isn’t set in stone yet but it would make sense that Asus would want to get their second generation product out as soon as possible so that everyone else would be on their first generation of this style notebook.

I’ve heard many people talking about how they aren’t really sure that this part of the notebook market would really pan out as all of us geeks are expecting it to. I hope that they are wrong, especially since, in my opinion at least, most people don’t need any more power than they would find in an Asus Eee PC and it would be much smarter for the average user to purchase a $400 Asus Eee PC and spend $800 on a desktop from someone like Dell than to spend $1200 on just a laptop. In this situation the $800 desktop will have about the same amount of horse power as the $1200 notebook but you would also be able to purchase a $400 Eee PC.

This little PC is said to be “exclusively created for the +100,000,000 MySpace users of the world.” So there is clearly a lot of integration with MySpace and, I would guess, other Web 2.0 sites.

This actually looks like a great OS interface and would probably be a great computer for the majority of teenagers in the world today… or at least the ones that spend all of their time on MySpace.

Easy to Lean. Easy to Work” written on the feature card but unfortunately that wasn’t the desktop Eee PC that we would soon be seeing as the official desktop Eee PC.

The desktop Eee PC will first ship in black or white with the possibility of more colors down the line.

Asus has said in the past that the desktop Eee PC would ship with an Intel Celeron processor and soon afterwards transition to the Atom processor. Asus also said that they would be pushing for a price somewhere between $200 and $300, with the goal being to get the cost down to $200 over time.

First thing I want to say about these pictures is: Nintendo Wii.
The second thing I want to say is: I WANT ONE!

The impact on the battery this new, larger LCD panel will have is said to be negligible, the Eee PC is going to have 2.5 to 3 hours of battery life.

The 9″ Eee PC is set to begin hitting store shelves in the middle of 2008 with a €399 price tag, which comes with a 12GB flash drive. There will also be a 8GB version, no US pricing has been found at this time.

Shuttle has been showing off a $199 PC at CES. The Shuttle PC runs the KPC Linux distro and was announced on Tuesday. They didn’t actually have it on the CES show floor, you actually had to visit a private suite at the Bellagio to check it out but none the less they were showing it off.

The computer will have a Intel Celeron processor, a 945GC chipset, 512MB of RAM and the option of either a 60GB or 80GB hard drive.

The computer doesn’t have an optical drive or any PCIe slots but its a great looking box that will do what most home users will need it to do.

The new PC will come in either red, blue, white, or black each with a different color icon stamped on the front.

Recently Softpedia posted an installation guide for Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04) on the Playstation 3. So if you want to maybe play some old school games with emulators or you want to do some other type of cool guy linux stuff, well… you can.

The install process isn’t really that long and the great news is that you can keep the standard PS3 OS installed so you can still do all the great things that the PS3 can do.

One more thing I’d like to mention about it, Ubuntu CAN read the Blu-ray disks however you cannot play Blu-ray movies through Ubuntu (darn DRM).

Wal-Mart has begun selling a $199 PC powered by a Via C7-D Processor and running Linux. The PC is manufactured by Everex and comes with 512MB of DDR2 memory and an 80GB hard drive. The Linux distro running on the computer is called gOS which is based on Ubuntu 7.10.

You can purchase the computer for yourself here.

Since the Operating System (OS) is Open Source you can actually download gOS and put it on a computer of your choice. You can get the ISO for the OS here from the official site or you can download it here at LinuxTracker.org. The ISO is 728MB so it won’t fit on a CD-R but will fit on a DVD-R with plenty of room to spare. gOS comes as a LiveCD so you will be able to play around with gOS before you install it.

(by the way, the g doesn’t stand for Google it stands for Green)

I think that this is a pretty cool idea, I don’t really think that it will sell that well because people who don’t know much about computers will probably be upset if they come home and find something they aren’t accustomed to when they boot up their brand new computer for the first time. But, this is a really neat low-cost computer that I don’t think people should rule out just because of the OS installed.
