Sidekick Slide – Why is it called a “Sidekick”

T-Mobile officially announced the Sidekick Slide, now I don’t know exactly why the Sidekick was originally called the Sidekick, but I think that it had something to do with the idea of using your thumb to flip the screen up to reveal the keyboard. Sidekick is a horrible name for the Slide, but I guess I can let them get away with it.

The Sidekick Slide will be available on October 24th for $199.99 with a two year contract. The screen is much brighter then the previous Sidekick and it features a 1.3MP camera.

T-Mobile has also announced the Sidekick LX which is slightly thicker then the slide, features media playback and has a longer battery life then the Slide.

I’ve never been a big fan of the Sidekick because it has always been too big for my taste, and even though these Sidekick’s are the best yet, I’ll still stick with my iPhone.

I always thought they called it Sidekick because it was your digital sidekick, like a Superhero has a sidekick.
